Another great record.

Tape Deck Heart Deluxe Explicit

So, every now and then, I will ask a friend if they have heard of or like Frank Turner, and every single time, I'll get a quizicle look and a "no." Some things are just not fair! Justin Bieber will sell his ridiculous amounts of records and everyone is listening to "Thrift Shop," and here we have an extremely talented musician/songwriter who actually writes about things---and those things are not all depressing.

I love how the song goes along in a folk-pop bliss until we get to "Four Simple Words," a very effective teasing of hipsters, and a bristling at him being characterized as a hipster artist. He is so much more than that.

Best songs: "Four Simple Words," "Recovery," "Plain Sailing Weather," "Anymore" The latter is an emotional departure from the rest of the album, really bringing the tempo down and letting you in a little bit to Turner's darker, sadder side. Great stuff. The whole album is such a great work that it's hard to pick just a few songs. I firmly believe the entire album should be listened to from start to finish without skipping or shuffle.

  2. I have all of Frank Turner's records and this one is just as good as all the others. I strongly suggest the deluxe edition I really like the extra songs like tattoos and cowboy chords. The main record is great as well, with songs like four simple words and plain sailing weather. The best song may be good and gone hard to know this early.

  3. I have loved a great many albums in the last few years, but none have resonated with me on as deeply a personal level as this one does. Every single song hits me right in the heart. I've been listening to it nonstop for two weeks now.

  4. I have been a fan of Frank's since seeing him live when he opened for Flogging Molly a few years ago. If you are a fan of his music, this album will not disappoint you. It's track list is very strong from top to bottom.

  5. If you've listened to FT before, you know how his music can move you. TDH does just that but then it punches you in the gut and leaves you wanting more. I love this album; I'd give away my father in law for another copy. Come to think of it, I'd give away my father in law for a grilled cheese sandwich. Anyway, great album!
