Better than Thermarest.

Big Agnes Insulated Core Sleeping

Big Agnes Insulated Core Sleeping

I use this pad with a Big Agnes Fish Hawk bag. Big Agnes designs their pads to slip into a sleeve on the underside of their bags. This allows for lighter bags and also prevents slipping off the pad itself. Blowing up the pad can get old after several days as others have mentioned. But the comfort is well worth the effort! I can't imagine using anything else anymore. The valve is of an odd design, but I have not had any trouble with leaks or poor threading. I am 6'2" and use the long version of both the bag and pad. This means it takes a few extra breaths to inflate the thing but again, no regrets. I was initially concerned that the repeated folding of the material in addition to tight packing of my pack might cause a leak but I have had no problems thus far. The thing seems pretty tough. Some friends and I even used one as a makeshift sled to play in the snow (I know, I know...). Can't say it's bomb-proof yet, but no problems with the pad even after blatant abuse.

  2. Well i need a sleeping pad...i have never had a self inflating pad before. Generally speaking i buy nice gear, but i saw a coleman sleeping pad at target and figured i would give it a go. I got home and opened it up and i let it sit. I immediately noticed the inner padding was all jacked up. Like folded within the pad itself and shit. I cannot manipulate it in any way to get it to return to its proper spot so should i just return it and buy a nice therm-a-rest self inflating when i receive my pay check ( im only 15) or wait a day and see what happens?

  3. Which is light, warm, and compact: Closed-cell foam pads, Open-Cell foam pads, air mattresses, or self-inflating pads? I currently have a Therm-A-Rest Ridge Rest, and it's kinda warm and pretty light, but it's a bit bulky.
